The Golden Visa
has been abolished.
Residence by investment disappeared in 2025. We explain what happened and, above all, which residence alternatives do exist today in Spain.
The Golden Visa no longer exists. The investor residence authorisation was abolished in full by Organic Law 1/2025, of 2 January, on efficiency measures for the Public Justice Service, which repealed articles 63 to 67 of Law 14/2013. The repeal affects all routes —real estate, shares, funds, bank deposits, public debt and business projects— and has been in force since 3 April 2025. It is no longer possible to obtain residence in Spain through investment.
The end of residence

For more than a decade, Law 14/2013 allowed you to obtain residence in Spain by making a significant investment (the well-known Golden Visa). Organic Law 1/2025, of 2 January repealed that regime entirely: since 3 April 2025, no investment route grants access to residence.
All the modalities that existed were abolished:
- Real-estate investment of €500,000
- Shares or investment funds (€1,000,000)
- Bank deposits (€1,000,000)
- Spanish public debt (€2,000,000)
- Business projects of general interest
Already have a Golden Visa granted? You do not lose it. Authorisations granted before 3 April 2025 remain valid and are renewable under the transitional regime. Applications filed before that date are also processed under the previous rules. If that is your case, we can handle your renewals.
