The investor residence authorisation (Law 14/2013) allows you to obtain legal residence in Spain in exchange for a significant investment, without needing to spend more than one day per year in Spanish territory.

Real estate
This route was abolished in April 2025 (LO 1/2025). New applications based on real-estate investment are no longer possible.
Authorisations granted before the abolition remain renewable under the transitional rules.
Shares and funds
Investment of at least €1,000,000 in shares of Spanish companies or investment funds registered in Spain.
Bank deposits of the same amount in Spanish financial institutions also qualify.
Public debt
Investment of at least €2,000,000 in Spanish public debt, to be held for 5 years.
Also an investment of 1 million in business projects of general interest that create employment.
