to be with you
Family reunification allows foreign nationals legally residing in Spain to bring over their immediate family. These are the relatives you can reunite with.
- Spouse (legally recognised marriage)
- Registered civil partner
- Children under 18
- Dependent adult children with a disability
- Ascendants (parents) — long-term residents
- Your spouse's ascendants — in specific cases
- Minors under guardianship or foster care
- Representation of minors during the procedure
Before applying,
make sure you meet these
Valid residence permit
You must have resided legally in Spain for at least one year and hold a renewed permit or have a renewal in progress.
Adequate housing
A housing adequacy report from the town hall certifying sufficient space and decent conditions for the whole family.
Sufficient financial means
A minimum income calculated on the IPREM index according to the number of family members being reunited. We tell you exactly how much you need.
Clean criminal record
Neither the sponsor nor the family members may have a criminal record in Spain or in their countries of residence over the last five years.
Three steps
to reunification
Authorisation application
We file the application with the Immigration Office with all the documentation: housing report, financial means, family ties and original documents.
Visa at the consulate
Once the authorisation is approved, your family member applies for the visa at the Spanish consulate in their country. We prepare the documentation for that appointment.
Residence card
On arrival in Spain we handle the empadronamiento (municipal registration), the fingerprinting appointment and obtaining the family residence card.
